The Body Ready Method® is a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to prenatal preparation and birth support. It helps expectant parents optimize body alignment, movement patterns, and core function to prepare for a more efficient and comfortable birth, as well as smoother postpartum recovery.
-
BRM® was developed by Lindsay McCoy, a perinatal professional and exercise specialist, to bridge the gap between birth education and functional movement training. It draws from biomechanics, exercise science, and years of experience working with birthing families.
-

-
Not exactly. BRM® is a functional movement-based approach tailored to your individual body and birth goals. While it includes movement, it's not a traditional fitness class — it focuses on body alignment, breath, core function, and biomechanics to support birth and recovery.
-
You can start BRM® as early as the first trimester, but most people begin in the second trimester or early third trimester. However, it’s never too late to benefit — even a few sessions late in pregnancy can be helpful.
-
Typically, BRM® sessions use simple props like yoga blocks, a birth ball, and resistance bands. Your practitioner will let you know what’s needed and can usually offer alternatives for what you already have at home.
-
Yes! BRM® is especially beneficial for people with a history of cesarean birth, long or difficult labors, or pelvic floor dysfunction. It can help address underlying imbalances and prepare your body for a more positive experience this time.
-
While prenatal yoga focuses on stretching and relaxation, and childbirth classes focus on labor and delivery education, BRM® addresses the function of your body during pregnancy and birth. It blends movement, alignment, and education in a unique, holistic way.
-
Both! You can work 1:1 with a certified BRM® Pro, or enroll in online programs. Personalized sessions are especially helpful for targeting your specific needs and goals.
